मंत्री ने कहा की भारत सरकार ने देश में ऊर्जा सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए नीतिगत फ्रेमवर्क को दुरूस्त किया है जिसमें समूची ऊर्जा मूल्य श्रृंखला को कवर किया गया है। उन्होंने कहा की भारतीय क्षेत्र में खोज के लिए निवेश आकर्षित करने के लिए हाइड्रोकार्बन खोज और लाइसेंस नीति और खोजे गए लघु क्षेत्रों संबधी नीति की दिशा में प्रगतिशील उपाय किये गए हैं।

मंत्री ने कहा की भारत गैस आधारित स्वच्छ अर्थव्यवस्था को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता देता है। वर्तमान में प्राकृतिक गैस की हिस्सेदारी हमारी समग्र ऊर्जा में अपेक्षाकृत कम हैं। उन्होंने कहा की देश में 8 अरब अमरीकी डॉलर से अधिक की गैस ढांचा परियोजनाएं कार्यान्वित की जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा की 2022 तक हमारा लक्ष्य ऊर्जा साधनों में प्राकृतिक गैस की हिस्सेदारी वर्तमान 6.5 प्रतिशत से बढ़ाकर 15 प्रतिशत पर ले जाने का है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत एक मजबूत प्राकृतिक गैस व्यापार केंद्र कायम करने का इच्छुक हैं।
